The holiday season is quickly approaching, and unfortunately, it can be one of the craziest times of the year. You have to shop for presents and wrapping supplies, decide what dishes you’ll make for holiday dinners and make travel plans, along with the many other things that can pile up on your holiday to-do list. With so many things to do, make a plan to set aside time for yourself and enjoy the holiday season with friends and family.

The kids will be on break from school, and they will want to do something fun. If you want to stay in the house, spend time making some classic holiday treats like Christmas fudge, gingerbread cookies and peppermint bark. Turn on some holiday music and let the kids help you decorate the whole house with snowflakes and green and red paper chains. The whole family can get together and watch holiday favorites like A Charlie Brown Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street.

Don’t forget to get outside of the house to make holiday memories together, too. Plan a trip to one of the many holiday parades happening during this season. Day or night, an ice skating rink provides good outdoor fun. And once it gets dark, you can take a trip around town looking at Christmas lights. There will also be a large selection of holiday plays and musicals running from the end of November up to the New Year.

Don’t live close to family? Make a point to enjoy the season with friends! Host a holiday party to get everyone together and in the holiday spirit. Keep it lively with ugly sweater contests, singing carols and exchanging presents. Also, don’t underestimate the value of friendly advice while holiday shopping. Tackle it together! The Black Friday crowds aren’t always kid-friendly, but you can shop the deals with your friends for sure. Have a great time helping each other mark off all the people on your gift lists.
